When you think of a blog, you most likely imagine something similar to someone’s personal online journal. Or, at best, a media tool to track politicians or celebrities.
However, more and more businesses are choosing blog-based sites to function as their online presence. There are many reasons for this transition.
- Blog-based sites are EASY! The back-end dashboards of most blogging software is user friendly and designed for those without any html experience. If you can use Microsoft Word, you can most likely manage your own blog-based site.
- Blog-based sites put you in touch with your target audience. Blogs promotes interaction between you and your website users. Users expect blogs to be continually updated, so they keep coming back to see what is new. They can also comment on blog posts in most cases and participate in polls. Blogs are also easily integrated with all social networking utilities.
- Blog-based sites are SEO friendly. Lets just say that search engines (ahem, Google) LOVE blogs. The vast content of blogs, the customizable permalinks, RSS feeds, the vast back-links that occur within blog sites, all go into boosting your page ranking.
- Blog-based sites are totally customizable. You can easily change a theme in WordPress with a few clicks. Some of these themes even allow website owners to add CSS styling in the dashboard without any additional programs or an FTP account. Cascading Style Sheets are hands down, the best, and in our opinion, the only way to style a website. Just check out the CSS Zen Garden. Designers have used all the same basic code, and simply changed the style sheet. The results are truly amazing!
- Blog-based sites can grow with your business. Blogs are designed to hold a content load that is constantly edited and increased. Also, the programs that power most blogs are always being improved and built upon. New releases constantly improve the functionality and security of your blog.
